Charleston’s Tourism Industry Wraps Up a Successful 2017

This past year saw a lot of investment and positive publicity for Kanawha Valley’s tourism footprint. More than $100 million in private and public tourism infrastructure investment took place or was approved in 2017, including new exhibits at the Clay Center for Arts & Sciences; a new bike lane on Kanawha Boulevard; a new multi-sportsplex in Institute; the ongoing expansion and improvement of the Charleston Convention Center & Coliseum; and new restaurants and retailers such as Rock City Bakery, Elk City Records, Chow Thai, Starbucks and Café Romeo, just to name a few.
